How can we help you? How can we help you? How can we help you?

Better Globe Forestry Ltd. (BGF) is established to fight poverty and corruption through commercial forestry in drylands. Early feasibility studies identify Melia volkensii as the ideal species for arid environments.

Better Globe AS is founded in Norway to manage international fundraising and customer tree ownership.

Commercial operations officially begin in Kiambere, Kenya, marking the start of BGF's field implementation.

BGF expands to Uganda, laying groundwork in Dokolo. Simultaneously, Miti Magazine is launched as East Africa’s premier tree business quarterly.

BGF launches its Nyongoro project with an opening ceremony in 2011. In 2012, 21,500 hectares are leased through an agreement with Wity–Nyongoro Ranching Society.

BGF introduces a microfinance scheme offering affordable loans and financial training to rural communities.

BGF partners with the KenGen Foundation and Bamburi Cement to launch the Green Initiative Challenge (GIC). The MOU is formalized in 2015, launching a decade-long afforestation effort in schools.

BGF begins working with thousands of smallholder farmers in the Seven Forks region, promoting tree planting for income and ecosystem restoration.

WBGF collaborates with KEFRI, University of Nairobi, and Ghent University on advanced research. The Better Globe Forestry Foundation (BGFF) is officially registered with Kenya’s NGO Board.

With support from the Flemish Interuniversity Council, BGF advances tissue culture, bio-pesticide development, and nursery techniques. A major review workshop is held in Nairobi in 2017.

BGF operates full-scale projects in Kenya and Uganda under the oversight of Better Globe AS.

A farmer-centric agroforestry initiative is rolled out in Dokolo, Uganda, including nurseries and microfinance support.

BGF begins seeking FSC certification for its forestry assets, ensuring global sustainability standards are met.

Pandemic-related restrictions prevent BGF from visiting its partner farmers during this period. However, the company continues to support its projects and communities through remote engagement and digital platforms.

In 2022, Better Globe AS began negotiations with their main tree customers in Scandinavia to establish a Swedish public company Tree Partner Solutions (TPS) for the transfer of ownership of trees planted by BGF. This transition was completed in 2024, with TPS becoming the new custodian.

BGF and Tree Partner Solutions sign an agreement for BGF to continue maintaining the existing trees formerly under Better Globe AS, and to act as the implementation partner for new tree planting initiatives across East Africa.

BGF contracts Humi Green, an independent management to oversee strategic and operational support.

BGF becomes a fully independent commercial company, no longer funded by or dependent on Better Globe AS.

BGF initiates active commercial discussions with companies, organizations, and individuals interested in investing in forestry for carbon credits, sustainable timber, and high-impact social or environmental projects across East Africa.

BGF launches a new agroforestry pilot project commissioned and financed by Tree Partner Solutions.

The Better Globe Forestry Foundation is restructured to operate independently at arm’s length, supporting BGF’s CSR and community efforts.
